Larghan Victory Park
Raising the Green Flag

The prestigious Green Flag, awarded to Larghan Victory Park in July, was hoisted aloft by Councillor Alan Grant today (23 Sept) when members of the community who have been supporting the park’s regeneration and schoolchildren involved in the park’s bumble bee meadow project turned out to celebrate this achievement.

Green Flag Awards recognise high quality, well maintained, and well used public open spaces which have a high level of community involvement in their management. They have become the national standard for parks and green spaces and are helping to create public recognition of good quality green spaces.

The Green Flag judges commended the excellent execution of a good management plan and recognized that the recently completed improvements to the park, along with input from the local community, has given the park a new lease of life. The exciting new play area, in particular, is proving extremely popular. The flag is located at the new pedestrian access to the park and will be visible to those travelling on the A94.

Perth & Kinross Council's Environment Convener, Councillor Alan Grant said: “This is a tremendous endorsement of all the hard work that has gone into the recent regeneration of the park. The Green Flag Awards recognise the strong support and involvement of local communities and it is very satisfying to have this success in the first full year of the awards in Scotland. The Council will be continuing to seek Green Flag status for the other key parks and open spaces it cares for throughout Perth and Kinross."
