EAST PERTHSHIRE NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH ASSOCIATION

The latest public meeting of East Perthshire Neighbourhood Watch Association (EPNWA) took place in Kirkmichael Session Hall on Thursday 4th February. Inspector Paddy Buckley-Jones answered questions on rural crime including theft of fuel and heating oil, speeding motorcyclists through villages, contacting the police, and the benefits of Neighbourhood Watch. The latest EPNWA newsletter was available for collection.

Neighbourhood Watch is one of the biggest and most successful crime prevention initiatives ever. Behind it lies a simple idea, and a central value shared by millions of people around the country: getting together with your neighbours to take action to cut local crime. Members’ involvement can be as little or as much as they wish. Joining a ‘watch’ (streets or areas which have NHW members) helps and reassures those who live in fear of crime. It also encourages neighbourliness and closer communities, and often cuts crime and the opportunities for crime.

EPNWA encompasses over 50 active watches and there are many benefits of joining or starting up a scheme in your area, including a discount in your house insurance. Don’t sit back and accept problems in your area. Together we can solve crime and anti-social behaviour in your area. EPNWA operates an informal neighbourhood watch, with no lengthy meetings, AGMs, or other formalities. Joining this organisation is very easy by contacting Tayside Police, Community Safety on 0300 111 2222. The next public meeting will be in Coupar Angus Lesser Hall on Thursday 25th March at 7pm. All welcome.
